ColourQ #93 & Simply Scrapping Crafts Embossing

Good morning!  It is already HOT here, and I'm not looking forward to another 90+ degree day with no A/C.  I hope you're staying cool wherever you are!

There is one thing to look forward to today--a new ColourQ challenge!  This week we have a bright and colorful palette inspired by a floral rug.  I'm also participating in a new-to-me challenge at Simply Scrapping Crafts, and the challenge this week is to use embossing.

I decided to use a recent favorite technique, color blocking!  I punched squares of red, pear, and peach, then stamped and heat embossed a white leaf image from WPlus9's Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions.  For the last square, I punched it from white cardstock and stamped the solid leaf image in Marina Mist.

I attached the color blocks to a white cardstock panel matted with Marina Mist.  I stamped a sentiment from WPlus9's Funky Foliage and added a popped up, stamped bird from Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions.  It's hard to see in the photo, but I scored two lines under the sentiment because it was looking a little empty.

The whole panel is popped up on a card base embossed with SU's Elegant Lines folder.

Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! (Marina Mist, Pear Pizazz, Peach Parfait), Papertrey Ink (white, Pure Poppy)
Stamps:  WPlus9 Design Studio (Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions, Funky Foliage)
Ink:  Stampin' Up! (Marina Mist), Versamark
Tools:  Stampin' Up! (Elegant Lines embossing folder), Martha Stewart (Scoring Board)
Accessories:  Stampendous (white embossing powder)

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations with this fun color palette!  Be sure to stop by and see the rest of the fabulous Design Team samples for inspiration.

Thanks for your visit today!  Have a great Tuesday!

This is gorgeous in all of its little details and I am thrilled that I have the stamp set so I can copy!

Heat is awful, isn't it? I have a swamp cooler for my house, but they relay on dry air. Living in Colorado, we are usually very dry. But this summer has been hot and very humid (we define very humid as 50%!) so the swamp cooler doesn't work. I am so tired of being hot, sticky and very uncomfortable. Of course, it's a good excuse to sit at my craft table with a fan on my face!

I absolutely LOVE this card! The color blocking is so pretty, and I love how you used one solid image with the three line images! Brilliant!!

We're hot here, too. At least we do have a swamp cooler, but with these 100 degree days, it's not doing much!!

Not too hot here...completely bearable actually.
This has so much Oomph to it! LOL
Your color blocking looks great, especially on that embossed BG, but it's the white embossed leaves that make me smile.

goodness...this is a beautiful design Christina...I love how the white panel has the image in blue...and the embossing is stunning! We're in the 100s here...much hotter than normal. Just called my niece to come over so that my little ones don't have to sit outside at my oldest's baseball game!

Wow, what a bold and fun card! I LOVE the colors, and can I just say WOW! to your fussy cutting on the bird?! Amazing!
Around Pittsburgh, it's hard to tell, especially since the weathers been so inconsistent as of late, but it's getting hot AND humid! Heat is bad enough, but humidity drives me nuts!
