WMSC #8 & colourQ #44

Hey there! It's good to be back after a few days without crafting. How's your week going so far?

Well folks, today's card is WAY outside of my usual "look". I don't know what I was thinking, but I had fun with it! I wanted to tackle the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, especially since I had never tried a window card and wanted to try it with this sketch. I decided to pair it up with the color combo from colourQ this week.

I started by cutting out the flower shape in the card front using a die from PTI's Beautiful Blooms II, then I stamped the corresponding bloom through the window onto the inside of the card. Two more blooms were stamped in blue and yellow, then I used two of the flower centers that come in the stamp set to stamp three black dots. I decided to cover these with black glitter just for fun!

Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (white)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Beautiful Blooms II)
Ink: Clearsnap (Black, Scarlet, Cape Cod), Hampton Art (yellow)
Tools: Papertrey Ink (flower die)
Accessories: Papertrey Ink (buttons), Queen & Co. (pearls), Stampendous (glitter), Sakura (pen), DMC floss

I added some faux stitching around the flower centers with a black pen, some button centers, and a few pearls. The result: fun and funky and eclectic and totally NOT me. But I kind of like it anyway!

Here's the inside. I decided not to add anything else, it seems to stand alone and incorporates all of the colors from the front of the card.

Okay friends, what are you doing to step outside of your comfort zone today? I'd love to see! Leave me a comment and I'll be sure to pay you a visit! Thanks for stopping by!

I think this is fantastic Christina! Good for you for trying a new style! I'm a pretty eclectic card maker, but "cutesy" is FAR out of my range, so I might take up your challenge and give it a try!

Sometimes it is difficult to step outside your normal zone, but when you do, it turns out gorgeous! That happens to me a lot, I think.
