Dream...then Do

Hi friends.  I intended to get this post up a little earlier, but we had a fun family day of ice skating.  :)  We were fortunate to have the day off from work and school in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.

Thinking of Dr. King today, I decided to make a card using a sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps new set, Casual Elegance.  To me, this sentiment captures the essence of Dr. King's legacy.  It is not enough to dream of a better tomorrow; we must commit ourselves to making those dreams a reality.

Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream), Stampin' Up! (Island Indigo)
Patterned paper:  My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found Two: Breeze)
Stamp:  CAS-ual Fridays Stamps (Casual Elegance)
Ink:  Stampin' Up! (Island Indigo)
Tools:  My Favorite Things (polaroid die, star border die)
Accessories:  Michaels (star gems), seam binding, thread

I have a few dreams of my own for the coming year.  One of the more meaningful ones is to engage in more volunteer work, especially once my son starts all-day Kindergarten in the fall.

Another dream of mine?  To see my patterned paper stash diminish.  :)  I tried to put a teensy dent in it with this card, but I have a long way to go.

What are your dreams?  I'd love to hear.  :)

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great start to your week!

Gorgeous!!
But they always are! :)
Love the colors...
the papers...
sentiment!
And a dream of mine?
A clean house!
I keep hoping the house fairies will show up and make it a reality...
or my children suddenly develop the ability to pick up after themselves...
but I'm still waiting! :)

Oh Christina this is gorgeous and what a sweet tribute to a great man. This is Dr. Kings Day. Oh how I remember the days of volunteering. As a stay at home mom I was at school everyday volunteering, and loved every minute of it. ( so much for staying home) :)

Hi Christina! Such a beautiful color combo and striking message! My dream for this year is for most of my crafting to be for me and to cross off a couple of to-dos at work. :) Fingers crossed!

Christina your card is beautiful. I love that patterned paper and I love the message. What a beautiful day you must have had with your family. I too would like to put a dent in my patterned paper stash, but more important I dream that my husband will succeed in his own business this year and that my son will find his fit at the right University.

Christina, I really love this. I love your inspiration for it as well. The color combo you used is great, and the stars are the perfect embellishment to go with the sentiment.

This card is simply beautiful!! Love your combination of patterned papers, and how you creatively incorporated that awesome sentiment!! My dream is to FINISH a couple of quilting projects, and to use my stamps rather than just collect them (as Chunyuan so wisely said). Hugs!

This is such a beautiful card, Christina! I love how you used the patterned papers! My dream is not to get addicted with card making! Because then I would have to abandon it completely!!

My dream is a cover, but I have to submit more and be more confident and original with my cards. Your card is amazing, I LOVE the use of the patterns and the colors.

Every time I see that seam binding I fall in love! What a wonderfully put-together card, Christina. The layering, the colors, the patterns, it all works so well! My youngest will start Kindergarten in the fall, but it's only half days. So, you can let me know of any difficulties, or jumps for joy : )
