Exciting news and a card to share

Hello there, friends!  I hope you're enjoying your weekend so far!

I try not to toot my own horn here on the blog very often, but I just had to share the super-duper exciting news that one of my cards was chosen for the next issue of Paper Crafts Go-to Sketches!!  Needless to say, I am beyond thrilled over my very first publication, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly and it makes it to print.  {happy sigh}

That being said, I do have a few "rejects" to share with you.  The first one was actually my favorite, using those gorgeous dogwood flowers from WPlus9's Flora & Fauna.  I stamped them on Rustic Cream cardstock, masked the image and stamped it again for a fuller branch.

I used the spotlighting technique to color just a portion of the image on another piece of cardstock, cut it out with a circle Nestie, and popped it up on foam adhesive.

The butterfly is from the same stamp set, also colored with Prisma pencils, cut out and attached with a piece of foam tape just in the center.

The sentiment is from PTI's Mat Stack 1 Collection, and I emphasized it just a bit by adding two scored lines underneath.

Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink (Rustic Cream, Dark Chocolate)
Stamps:  WPlus9 (Flora & Fauna), Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack 1 Collection)
Ink:  Papertrey Ink (Dark Chocolate)
Tools:  Spellbinders (circle die), Martha Stewart (Scoring board), We R Memory Keepers (Corner Chomper)
Coloring medium:  Prismacolor Premier pencils, OMS, Spica glitter pen

Thanks so much for stopping by to share in my excitement!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Christina, I just couldn't be happier for you!!! I'm not a bit surprised though, you know how amazing I think your work is :) I'm considering the idea of submitting something, I never have but it would be thrilling to have something published, I'm sure! And this "reject" card is stunning, I love the spotlight technique you've used!

This was a reject??!! Seriously??!! It is stunning. I have seen other cards with a small part of an image being colored - but your addition of that butterfly makes this unique and so beautiful. Congrats on your other card!
