ColourQ #76

Morning, friends!  So glad you stopped by!

It's time for another challenge at the ColourQ, and this one is perfect for the season.  Check it out:

Green and yellow frustrate me almost as much as purple, so this was no walk in the park.  For some reason I thought of those yellow ribbons tied around trees, lamp posts, and anything else that would stand still to show support for our troops overseas, so that's what I attempted to do.

The trees are from WPlus9's Funky Foliage, a much-neglected set in my stash.  To "ground" them, I masked some hills and inked the bottom of the panel with Old Olive ink.  The heat embossed sentiment is also from Funky Foliage.

A bit of Buttercup baker's twine from The Twinery looks like it is tied to the tree.  I just used a small drop of Glossy Accents to adhere the knot.  Love that stuff for adhering tricky embellishments.

This didn't turn out exactly as I had envisioned, but I think it would be perfect to send to a service member stationed overseas, especially a man.  I had to restrain myself from adding buttons or bling to dress it up, though!  I do wish that I had added some texture to the main panel with the Linen & Canvas impression plate, but I can live with it.

Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! (Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso), Papertrey Ink (white)
Stamps:  WPlus9 (Funky Foliage)
Ink:  Stampin' Up! (Old Olive, Early Espresso), Clearsnap (Moss Green, Frost White)
Accessories:  The Twinery (Buttercup twine), Stampendous (embossing powder), thread

Be sure to see what the rest of the Design Team created this week, then link up your creation to be in the running for this week's Colour Queen!

Have a good one!

I LOVE this so much! The rolling hills, the stitching around the panel mimicking the stitching on the trees and that fabulous yellow ribbon. :)

I love green and yellow ;) but having two in the pallet can be a bit tricky at times. You did a wonderful job with them - love the card. I've now got Tony Orlando's song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon round the Old Oak Tree" in my mind!

I love this and I so want this stamp set now! I'm obsessed with tree designs lately but have pretty much no tree stuff in my stash. Brilliant job with the colours despite how they might have frustrated you! :)

This is such a darling card! I love the little trees - and for some reason the baker's twine around the one just makes me feel so sentimental?! It goes with the sentiment perfectly!
