Retro Christmas: Day 2

Welcome back for another sneak peek of Retro Christmas, one of two new sets being released by Practicing Creativity Designs this month!  Today the Design Team is showcasing a popular product, spray ink, so you will want to stop by and see what they've come up with!  Unfortunately I couldn't get any spray ink in time, but I still have a card to share that I really *love*.

For this card, I wanted to feature the cute little trees in the set.  There are three in all, one is solid and the other two are patterned.  I loved the look of the patterned trees so much that I decided to try making my own using the solid tree and some background stamps in my collection, using the "stamp kissing" technique.  I am thrilled with the result!  If you are not familiar with this method, here is how I did it.  First I inked up the solid tree in either chartreuse, red, or aqua.  Then I pressed the inked stamp onto another, un-inked pattern stamp to remove some of the ink from the tree.  Last, I stamped the tree onto my card.  Easy peasy!

Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink (Simply Chartreuse, Pure Poppy, Rustic Cream)
Stamps:  Practicing Creativity Designs (Retro Christmas), Martha Stewart (Clear Pattern Stamps), Papertrey Ink (A Little Argyle, Fillable Frames 4)
Ink:  Clearsnap (Moss Green, Seaglass, Cranberry), Papertrey Ink (Dark Chocolate)
Tools:  Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames 4 die)
Accessories:  Ranger (Stickles, Perfect Pearls, Perfect Medium), thread

The die cut label and frame stamp are from PTI, and the sentiment is the second one in the Retro Christmas set with that fabulous font.  I love that it is so easy to ink the words up separately if you want to change the arrangement.  The tree on the label is one of the patterned trees in the set, which was just begging for some bling!  I obliged with some sparkly red Stickles.

To finish off this card, I decided to add a little more shine by stamping one of the small snowflake images all over the background using Ranger Perfect Medium.  I then swirled on some Perfect Pearls powder, which in a happy accident stuck to the trees as well.  The result is a wonderful shimmer on the whole card front, which also softened the bright colors just a bit.  I tried to capture some of that in the photos, but it's really magical in person!

Sorry for the long post, but I hope I've inspired you to go over to Courtney's blog to see what she has cooked up for today!  Also be sure to stop by and leave some love for Dana, Paulina, Karen, Heather, and Jackie, as I'm sure their creations will be stunning!

Thanks for stopping by today!

This is just really beautiful. I always liked searching for our Christmas tree every year when I was little, finding the perfect one to cut down, and your card reminds me of that. Thanks for sparking a really fond memory this morning.
