Totally Hues Challenge #3 & My Mind's Eye Challenge #21

Don't forget to check out my giveaway at the end of the post HERE.  You have until Saturday night to comment for a chance to win a stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Hey, friends!  Boy, am I glad to be back!  I have been very sick for the last three days, and it was all I could do to lift my head off of my pillow, let alone craft or blog!  But I'm feeling much better tonight and hope to be back to normal by tomorrow.

Tonight I thought I'd share a card I made last weekend and hadn't posted yet.  As soon as I saw the new colors for the Totally Hues Challenge, I thought of the Fine & Dandy "True Blue" collection from My Mind's Eye.  Lucky for me, the MME blog currently has a sketch challenge with the theme "Celebrate today", so I used it for my card.

If you follow my blog at all, you must know that I don't use a lot of patterned paper on my cards.  I LOVE patterned paper and use it on my scrapbook pages, but I find the smaller canvas of a typical card more challenging when it comes to mixing and matching patterns.  So I'm not totally happy with the way this turned out (a little busy for my taste), but I do love the cheerful colors.

The edges of the papers are sanded to give them some definition, and I used a lot of zig-zag stitching.  I die cut a Hawaiian Shores felt flower and added an Aqua Mist button to the middle.  The sentiment is from Star Prints.  I think this would be a fun birthday card for a tween or teen girl who (like me) is not into girly-girl pink and frills.

Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores, white)
Patterned paper:  My Mind's Eye (Fine & Dandy True Blue "Dapper" & "Shining", Alphabet Soup Boy "Star Bright")
Stamps:  Papertrey Ink (Star Prints)
Ink:  Papertrey Ink (Dark Chocolate)
Tools:  Papertrey Ink (Beautiful Blooms die), Fiskars (border punch, hole punch)
Accessories:  Papertrey Ink (felt, button), The Twinery (baker's twine), thread, DMC floss

Thanks for checking in with me tonight!  See you back here soon!

Christina I thinks it's fabulous! The patterned papers are all in the same hue and the plain cardstock base totally anchors it. :)
Seems like there is a nasty cold flying around. I hope you feel better soon. :)

Over New Years, we were in Kansas City shopping and I had this paper collection in my dear little hands but then put it back. I've been regretting it especially now seeing this card! Great layout!
