Hello, fellow blog hoppers! Today is the monthly Blog Hop with Papertrey Ink, and this month the challenge is to use embroidery floss in your design. I have had very little time to craft this week, so I can't say I had the most *creative* idea in the world, but it has been a while since I used a crochet flower, so that's what I decided to do. I was also inspired by the gorgeous dresses and bouquets in this week's inspiration photo at CR84FN. For someone who doesn't like purple, I've been using it a LOT lately!
I've used this crochet flower pattern several times in the past, and the pattern is from Nichole Heady herself. You can find simple instructions HERE. The only difference in my flower is that I added a third round of "petals" in avocado to give the appearance of leaves, and I prefer to flip the design over so that the back of the stitches are showing. I just think the petals look a little fuller this way.
I used the partial embossing technique again on the white cardstock, using the Diamonds impression plate along the bottom. The top is stamped with Background Basics: Text Style, then with a couple of leafy sprigs from Turning a New Leaf. I wrapped plum embroidery floss around the card a few times and tied a simple bow.
All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless noted
Cardstock: Ripe Avocado, Lavender Moon, white
Stamps: Mat Stack 3 Collection, Background Basics: Text Style, Turning a New Leaf
Ink: Ripe Avocado, Frost White (Clearsnap), Perfect Plum (Stampin' Up!)
Tools: Mat Stack 3 die, Diamonds impression plate, Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers)
Accessories: Plum Pudding button, pearls (Queen & Co.), embossing powder (Stampendous), DMC floss
