CR84FN18, PCD Sketch, & Scrappy Saturday Challenge

Hello, friends!  Happy beginning of the weekend!

Okay, so I must admit that my card tonight has a bit of an identity crisis.  Somehow I managed to take fall colors, combine them with fall and Christmas stamp sets, and come up with a spring card.  What can I say, I've been lying on the couch motionless for three days, so creating anything was a moral victory for me today!

This card combines this week's colors for CR84FN18, the sketch challenge to celebrate a new release at Practicing Creativity Designs, and the Scrappy Saturday Challenge to use woodland animals.

I pulled out my two stamp sets from Practicing Creativity, Fall Fest and Retro Christmas, then put on my thinking cap to devise a way to use them together.  It wasn't that hard, actually.  The cute little deer from Retro Christmas easily became a spring fawn stamped in light brown ink and decorated with spots using a white gel pen.

I stamped the large leafy branch from Fall Fest on a kraft cardstock strip, then used the coordinating solid leaf to add some random orange leaves.  I think I might have been okay if I had stopped there, but the main panel needed a little something around the sentiment (which is from WPlus9's Spring Post).  So I stamped a small leaf image three times with orange ink.   Hmmm, not very spring-y, but I think it's cute!

Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink (Harvest Gold, white), Bazzill (kraft)
Stamps:  Practicing Creativity (Fall Fest, Retro Christmas), WPlus9 (Spring Post)
Ink:  Clearsnap (Dune), Papertrey Ink (Dark Chocolate), Stampin' Up! (Tangerine Tango), Inkssentials (white gel pen), Sakura (brown pen)
Tools:  We R Memory Keepers (Corner Chomper)
Accessories:  Papertrey Ink (buttons), The Twinery (baker's twine), thread

I hope you enjoyed my little season-bending experiment!  Sometimes it's nice to think outside the traditional box when it comes to colors and patterns for our favorite holidays and occasions, don't you think?  Well, that's my story anyway, and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks for popping in tonight!  Have a great start to your weekend, friends!

Well done combining the stamps and color combo. Totally darling card. Hope you feel better soon! My daughter has been home all week from school with a nasty flu. Thankfully she has turned the corner and should be good to go to school next Monday. Have a great weekend :)

Get well soon, Christina!! :(

Your card is cute.... does it really matter if the stamps are not 'seasonal'? You've done a fantastic job with it!

Hugs and love,
Smita

Commenting here for the first time Christina, though I have been a long time admirer. For a challenge that us Indian crafters are taking part in, we are to CASE a card. I chose your 22nd Feb, butterfly card (the one you made for the ColorQ challenge). Your work is stunning and I want to take this opportunity to thank you for sharing your work. I hope you dont mind that I CASE-d your card.
