Hello! How good it feels to be back on the old blog. I feel like I've been away a lot in the last few weeks, but I think things should settle down a bit this week. We hosted a Halloween party over the weekend with over 35 people, so I'm ready for some quiet crafty time!
What better way to get back into the swing of things than with the latest ColourQ challenge? Now I won't lie to you and say that this one was easy for me, but I do really love these rich colors together, and just take a look at the gorgeous pattern on the little clutch in the inspiration photo.
I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch, too. I was stumped as to what I would do until I thought to go back to the inspiration photo itself and go with what appealed to me most, that intricate patterned fabric. I pulled out PTI's Guide Lines Two and got to work. I don't have Teal, so I subbed Bazzil cardstock and stamped it with a pattern using inks similar to Cherry and Cajun.
Cardstock: Stampin' Up! (Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, More Mustard), Bazzill (Rain), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Guide Lines Two), Verve (Accent Notes)
Ink: Clearsnap (Chianti, Terra Cotta), Papertrey Ink (Ocean Tides)
Tools: Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack 4), Fiskars (hole punches)
Accessories: Ranger (Glossy Accents), thread
Here are the steps I used to make the card:
1. Create card base from Vintage Cream cardstock. Cut a slightly smaller block of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
2. Cut a block of blue cardstock and stamp background pattern using Guide Lines Two. Cut the block into 3 strips and stitch to Cherry cardstock. Adhere stitched panel to card base. Using a 1/8 inch hole punch, cut circles of More Mustard cardstock and adhere to centers of Guide Lines pattern. Add Glossy Accents to each punched circle.
4. Cut label from Vintage Cream cardstock with Mat Stack 4 die. Pierce holes around edges. Stamp large accent image and sentiment. Add punched Mustard circles and cover with Glossy Accents.
5. Cut a slightly larger label from Cajun Craze cardstock and adhere behind Cream label. Attach to card front with foam adhesive.
And here is the inside with a bit more of that pretty pattern:
And one of these days I will learn to take pictures that don't make my stamped images look crooked! I swear it's straight IRL! LOL
Okay, it's off to bed for me! I hope you'll stop by the ColourQ, then check out the rest of the creations by the DT gals. Thanks for stopping by!
