Year of Flowers Collection: Pansies

Well, I'm a little late to the party, but I thought I'd post my card for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop anyway.  I had it all ready to post last night, but sometimes life gets in the way of the best of plans, doesn't it?

I was really excited to see the Year of Flowers Collection in the latest PTI release.  I only have the original YOF:  Mums, but the rest of the set is on my wish list.  The problem is that every time I go to order one of them, I can't decide which one!  So hopefully the mini versions in the new Collection will help me decide.

For this card, I chose the pansies.  First I masked the edges of my kraft card base using Post-it notes. I stamped the pansies several times in the center of the card in white ink, then colored them with Copic markers.  Once I removed the Post-its, I drew a frame with a white gel pen.

If I had the original YOF:  Pansies, I would have loved to color and cut out one of the larger flowers to layer over my sentiment banner.  Since that wasn't an option, I stamped the smaller blooms onto white cardstock, colored and cut them out, then popped them up on foam adhesive on a white doily.

All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless noted
Cardstock:  Kraft, Lavender Moon, white
Stamps:  Year of Flowers Collection, Ribbon Tails
Ink:  Frost White (Clearsnap), Copic markers, white pen (Inkssentials)
Tools:  Banner die
Accessories:  doily (Martha Stewart), embossing powder (Stampendous)

I'm thinking it would be fun to do a whole set of these with different flowers from the collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great night!

I just love looking at what you create...I have not found a single one that I don't just go "wow" about :) I love the idea you had to make one card from each of the year of flowers minis...I just got that set, too, and it definitely needs more use! I like how you colored on the craft cardstock...I never think to do things like that.
