Hi friends! That's a really long title for a post, doncha think? I may have tried to put too many eggs into one basket for this card (please excuse the Easter metaphor!). I had hoped to complete more of the challenges for the 350 Cards & Gifts issue from Paper Crafts, but for now I have one for the Gift Card Holder challenge. I also used the sketch from the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge and the colors from Just Us Girls, which has a twist this week requiring a birthday card.
I needed to make a birthday card to hold a gift card for my soon-to-be sister-in-law, so these challenges were great inspiration.
As soon as I saw the sketch, I thought it would be fun to hide a gift card behind the label. Unfortunately, I had to scale up the label quite a bit to make it work, so it doesn't look much like the sketch anymore, but the idea is there! I stamped one of the labels from Waltzingmouse's Vintage Labels 18 and added a sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers Happy Pansies, a set I won a long time ago that could stand to see more ink!
I die cut a larger Labels 18 from kraft cardstock, then traced the die itself onto black cardstock and cut out a mat. The kraft label is popped up on foam adhesive just around three edges, so that there is a pocket in the middle for a tag to slide in and out. You can see that better in the next picture:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (True Black, Aqua Mist, Melon Berry, Kraft, white)
Stamps: Waltzingmouse (Vintage Labels 18), Mark's Finest Papers (Happy Pansies), Papertrey Ink (Fancy Flourishes, Mat Stack 2 Collection)
Ink: Inkadindadoo (Black), Clearsnap (Seaglass)
Tools: Spellbinders (Labels 18 dies), Papertrey Ink (Polka Dots impression plate, Beautiful Blooms, Tag Sale #1, and button dies)
Accessories: Papertrey Ink (Melon Berry felt, buttons, and ribbon), Michaels (rhinestones), DMC floss
I used removable glue dots to attach a gift card to the back of the tag, cut with a die from PTI. Unfortunately the tag is about 1/4 inch too short to cover the entire gift card, but it is the perfect width. I embellished the tag and card with flowers cut from Melon Berry cardstock and felt from PTI.
If you have questions about any of the other details, just leave me a comment or send me an email!
Hope you have a great day ahead of you! My hubby's home for a long weekend and my MIL is staying with us for a few days, so I may be able to sneak away to stamp, lucky me!
Thanks for stopping by today!
