Hey, look at me! I'm posting a card!
The last week has been rather hectic, but hopefully things will slow down to allow some crafty time this week. I am rather excited to show you my project for this week's ColourQ challenge! I'm also entering this in the Card Sets Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. First, check out the cutie inspiration photo for this week:
Our dear friends in Ohio have a son who is celebrating his 6th birthday today. In addition to the book that we sent to him, I made a set of blank thank you cards that he can color and send. I feel very strongly about kids writing thank you notes as soon as they can scribble, and I think a set like this makes it more fun and personalized.
The idea for this project actually came from Carrie at Artistic Avenger and a cute project she shared last month. I didn't use her template, but I loved the idea of creating a little folder to hold blank cards and envelopes. I planned to share my template here today, but in the interest of time, and because this is already a photo-heavy post, I will come back and share it in a future post, so stay tuned!
I just adore the Half Pint Heroes set from Waltzingmouse with the darling vehicle images and sweet little boy faces that can be mixed and matched. I am really hoping they will eventually come out with a set geared toward little girls too!
The card folder is kraft cardstock covered with a Tangerine Tango panel debossed with PTI's Book Print impression plate. The white panel is stamped with the rocket image from Half Pint Heroes and colored with Copics (except for the little face, which is colored with Prisma pencils). I tied some Simply Chartreuse ribbon around the folder to hold it together.
The folder holds 6 cards, 2 of each of the designs below. Love that these simple illustrations are fun and easy for kids to color, as my son asks me repeatedly to stamp them so he can do just that!
Love the curly hair on this one!
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Kraft, White), Stampin' Up! (Tangerine Tango)
Stamps: Waltzingmouse (Half Pint Heroes), Papertrey Ink (Ribbon Tails)
Ink: Inkadinkadoo (Black)
Coloring media: Copic markers R29, R59, YR18, T4, T1, Prismacolor Premier pencils
Tools: Papertrey Ink (Book Print impression plate), We R Memory Keepers (Corner Chomper), Martha Stewart (Scoring Board)
Accessories: Papertrey Ink (Simply Chartreuse grosgrain ribbon)
The "thank you" sentiment on all of the cards is from PTI's Ribbon Tails.
I liked this project so much, I made a second set to post in my Etsy shop, so be sure look for that later today!
Sorry for such a long post, but I hope you enjoy this project and this week's colors! I can't wait to see your entries!
Have a fabulous Tuesday, friends!

Oh these are fabulous... love the embossed holder.... how perfect.
What a great idea! Even better that he gets to colour them himself :)
Hey Christina! Thanks for linking these up to the Card Set Challenge in the Moxie Fab World in celebration of 350 Cards & Gifts Week! Good luck in the random drawing! :)
What a wonderful idea. Love that card holder and such a great colour challenge.
Oh my gosh I love everything about this! The stamped images are adorable, I love the color combination, and what an amazing idea to send the thank you cards like that to be colored, and what great images for that purpose! You are truly a creative queen, Christina :) I will be playing along with this color challenge soon!
Oh my! That is so adorable!! Love the card you made and what a fabulous addition to a bday gift to include cards to color as thank yous! Such a sweet idea!
These are amazingly cute. I love the idea of letting a kid color in the images his/herself. And your folder looks fantastic! Love that you embossed the folders with that impression plate! A perfect touch. My mom actually emailed me the link to this, too, because she was freaking out about how cute it was. It's too bad the Moxie Fab challenge is random this time. You would have walked away with it!
This is such a cute card set, and I LOVE that the child can color in those images, really fabulous idea!!! I agree with you about kids and thank you notes. I make my kids write out notes, but they rarely get thank you's for parties they've attended. Unfortunately it seems to be a dying thing :(
What a perfect gift set this is!!! I'm grinning just looking at this.
First off, the card is just over the top cute. Love that little boy & his rocket and the half-embossed portion. And, the rest of the thank you cards... how they are stamped only so they could be colored in later to however their liking is brilliant!
Christina - you are a LEGEND!! This card is just awesome and what a fantastic idea to make him a set of Thank You cards to colour! I too am big on the whole thank you thing!!

Great idea!!! Those images are absolutely adorable - the cutest I have seen in a while, and you've colored them perfectly, Christina!
What a great idea! This is such an adorable set and I love your colouring on the rocket. Good luck in the challenges!
Hi Christina! I think these are the cutest darn things! Those images are just adorable. Your coloring paired with that awesome binder of color sheets is such a fabulous idea! I insist on thank you's as well.
How fun! I love this set, Christina. I have wanted and been meaning to make some sets for years now. I am so horrible about that. I guess I just need to do it. :)
Hugs~
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea!! I e-mailed the link to my daughter, Cristina, (as she has already told you) because I thought it was fabulous!! Can't wait till you post the template for the box!!
Such a fantastic idea, Christina! Love the idea of letting the kids color the images themselves and what an adorable holder. Can't wait for the template! Great project, my friend!
What a great idea to just stamp the image in black and let him color them! LOVE it! :)
Christina this is unreal! I love those cards to colour and your fabulous holder! The spaceship is amazing, you are a master artist!!! :)
This is fantastic! I'm sure the kid loved it!!
We're going to our hometown next week (on vacation and for my brother in law's wedding) and I think I should try something like this wit little coloring sheets for my son. What do you suggest?
Hugs,
Smita
YOU are so clever! :)What a super idea to make those set of thank you cards! Brilliant! :)
Just went thru your blog and your work is just fantastic! You have won over a fan today! :)
OMG!!! What a brilliant idea, not to mention SUPER DUPER CuTe!!! What a great idea to leave them black and white - not only a lovely design element but also so fun to color!!! What a fabulous set!
These are too stinkin' adorable! LOVE your holder! I actually used the same idea for a kiddo to color in the images him/herself for a submission once. It didn't get picked up, but I thought the idea was pure genius ;)... just as I do here! Way to rock these out!
Love the idea of creating color in cards!!! TFS :)
What a super clever idea to make blank thank you cards that kiddos can color!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this project!! You are a crafting ROCK STAR, girl!!!
What a fantastic project- will have to give this a go!
Well, it took a little time but I managed to look over four months worth of yours cards! So many good ideas...just beautiful cards (as always!) I can honestly say one of the few times I felt a little envious of another stampers talents! Congratulations on the recognition for your card holder! Well deserved! Glad to hear you are loving your new job. Hopefully getting your energy levels back to normal. That has to be hard.
HUGS!
