Brother CS6000i from Amazon.com |
My starter model Singer sewing machine has been pretty much worthless for almost a year. The last tune-up to reset the tension cost as much as the machine did when I bought it 10 years ago, so when it continued to have problems I decided it wasn't worth trying to fix it again.
After some research and reading of reviews on Amazon, I decided on this Brother machine that has 60 built-in stitches and lots of other features I've always wanted in a machine, like a needle that always stops in the down position, a switch to control maximum sewing speed, and an add-on table for larger projects. And all for only slightly more than I paid for my old, basic Singer.
I'm in love.
Right now I'm finishing up some cloth napkins for my kids with fabric that they chose and I cut last summer, right before my old machine started having problems again.
Next up I want to make some Roman shades for my kitchen. I've made one before and already have all of the materials, I just need to carve out some time to get them done.
Also new...I decided to clean up my sidebar and add some of those nifty blog buttons (over there under "connect")------->
You can follow me on Bloglovin', Facebook, and Pinterest, or send me an email, and it's all just a click away. :)
I'm off to get a few chores done before my son's buddy comes over, after which I don't anticipate getting much of anything done. Hope you have a fun day planned, too!

what a wonderful anniversary gift, Christina!
Yeah for your new toy!! Sounds wonderful and I'm sure you will enjoy it thoroughly :)
Have to love a new toy! And I want pictures of the things you make :)!
Christina I think that is such a fantastic Anniversary gift! Lucky girl and even better than you picked it. You probably have the same Singer I have that has been sitting with tension issues for about a year and I am not going to take it in AGAIN.
Sounds like you needed this new gift! I had the same machine for over 30 years when I got a new one I could not believe how light it was! Nice to see someone enjoy sewing still! Hope you have a fun day with your friends.
I did not know you sewed. What a great skill to have. How did you get those buttons?????I 'd love to add something like that to my blog.
So exciting!!! What a great anniversary present for you!! And there are so many possibilities for things to make, although the cloth napkins and roman shades are a fabulous way to start. I treated myself to a sewing day yesterday and was working on piecing a quilt. But I REALLY want to try roman shades - I am so impressed you've made one before! The Brother is a great machine so here's to many years of sewing enjoyment!!
What an awesome gift! I can't wait to see what you make with it!
This is so exciting!!!! I have had the same Singer for 9 years and it has held up so far. I made some when we lived at our previous house and I just loved the custom feel they gave our home. I can't wait to see yours! I am currently making a double layer twirl skirt for Leah. I hope to finish it soon and will post it when I can. I am so excited for you!!!!
What a wonderful gift! You gotta have the right tool for the job, and now you do! I'm so impressed with the blog buttons too. I feel so far behind the times.
What an awesome gift!!!! The different stitches will be so much fun to work with. I'd love to see photos of what you create too!
An awesome anniversary gift!!!!!! Hope to see some stitching your cards and other projects :D
We got the same one!!! :)
I ordered mine back after Christmas but have barely used it...it kind'a scares with all the buttons and when compared to my old one...
and have a pile of fabric for new shower curtain, curtains, chair covers...
so much to do and not enough time!
But YAY!!
It's an awesome gift and now you can help me figure out how to use it! LOL!! :)
My mom got a brother sewing machine for a wedding gift some 59 years ago..she's gone, but my little sister still uses her machine to mend with. Good choice! Have fun with it and I hope it lasts as long as moms. Bev
