A peek into my craft space...

 Hi folks!

As promised, I have a few photos of my craft space to share with you.  As you may remember, we recently had new windows installed, which prompted us to finally give this room a face lift.  I'm absolutely love how it turned out.  :)

You can see the "before" photo above on the left, showing you the hideously wallpapered walls, heavy drapes to cover the drafty, single-pane windows, and the dark wood trim.  Not exactly a place to inspire creativity.

After a few coats of pretty blue paint on the walls, white for the trim, and new energy-efficient windows, the room is finally the bright and inviting space I envisioned.

My favorite piece in this room is the long table that my hubby and I built to fit the space.  There's plenty of room for the kids to craft on one end while I stamp away at the other.  The table "legs" are basic bookshelves that hold the kids' craft supplies and other odds and ends.

The table top was made from two large sheets of heavy MDF.  I covered the edges with a 3/8" strip of decorative trim and added a wider piece of trim below.  After painting it white, I added 3 coats of polycrylic to give it a smooth, durable finish.

I finally gave my Silhouette Cameo a permanent home on my craft table so that I'll remember to use it.  :)  My sewing machine and basic trimmer are always within reach of my work space.  I have punches in the photo boxes, and the brown baskets hold alphabet stickers and miscellaneous embellishments.

Above the table is an 8-cube Expedit shelving unit from Ikea.  We decided to mount it on the wall, but this unit weighs a ton so we used heavy duty brackets to hold it as well as drywall screws at the top to stabilize it.

The Expedit unit holds scrapbooks, some of my tools, and boxes full of the kids' photos, drawings and school projects.

In the corner is an inexpensive cabinet unit from Michaels.  It's actually three separate pieces stacked together.  The bottom cabinet holds most of my clear stamps in their original packaging, my dies and embossing folders, and a small fabric stash.

The divided compartments at the top hold most of my tools, from adhesive to Copics to cutting tools and acrylic blocks.  On top of the unit are 4 CD boxes that hold my Papertrey stamp sets.  It bugs me that they don't match, so someday I'll probably have to fix that.  LOL!

Directly across from the cabinet is a wall-mounted unit from Michaels that holds my ink pads and the bulk of my ribbon.  I don't like the dowel rods that are intended for holding ribbon, as I prefer to bring the whole roll to my desk, so that space holds a few punches, washi tape, and wood stamps.

An old coffee table serves as a space to hold most of my cardstock, some patterned paper, and my Big Shot.  My scoring board sits on top.  Under the table are baskets full of magazines that I turn to for inspiration.

The best part of this room now is all of the wonderful, natural light coming in the 6 windows.  It's a much more inviting space, and now my hubby spends a lot more time working at the table with me, which is a nice bonus.  :)

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them!  I hope you enjoyed this peek into my space!

Thanks for stopping by!

I loved having the grand tour! It looks terrific with that light cheery blue :) My house came with wallpaper in every room, so I know how you must feel to have that gone now! I love how organized and clean everything is, too!

I love it Christina! The soothing blue on the walls ,and the crisp, clean white, are just beautiful. I built my craft desk as well, out of a 3/4" birch plywood cut to 4ftx6ft. I absolutely love the card you sent me As a thank you for my stamp order. It is so gorgeous(you even stitched on it) that it is out in my craft room for inspiration !
Thanks for sharing ,

What a cool space, Christina! Love that it is compact and yet lots of space to work on.
My new house has no extra room for craft:( I am going from one full room to no room. I am sharing a guest bedroom with kid's videogame and craft. I basically have a closet and a long table. Kind of like yours in the picture:) After seeing yours, I can visualise what space is going to be:) Thanks for sharing!
