CPS #179

Hi folks! Just a quick post today to share a birthday card I made for my Dad, and a reminder that this is the last day to comment on this post for your chance to win a fun prize package! I'll pick a random winner at midnight EST and announce it here.

For my Dad's card, I wanted to use the sailboat from PTI's Masculine Motifs. I used this week's sketch from CPS.

This one is pretty straight forward. I stamped the sailboat once with Enchanted Evening, then again without re-inking. I inked it up one more time and stamped off, then stamped the image on the other side. The white cardstock panel was impressed with the Linen & Canvas impression plate and sponged lightly with Enchanted Evening ink.

For the water, I didn't have a wave border punch so pulled I out one of my favorite Fiskars border punches to make strips for the water. I sponged them with white ink for a little more depth.

Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Enchanted Evening, white), Bazzill (kraft)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Masculine Motifs)
Ink: Papertrey Ink (Enchanted Evening), Jo-Ann (white)
Tools: Papertrey Ink (Linen & Canvas impression plate), Fiskars (border punch), EK Success (corner rounder)

I finished off the inside with another white cardstock panel stamped with one sailboat and sponged lightly with Enchanted Evening ink. One more punched strip and a stamped sentiment, and I call it done. I felt like this card was missing something, but I wanted to keep the clean, masculine look so I decided to leave well enough alone.

We're off on another whale watch today to escape the heat! My hubby's been working on the boat most days so the kids will be excited to spend the afternoon with him.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Love the colors, love the stamp but those punched waves are soooo clever! And the white sponging is a fantastic addition. Also love how you staggered the punch strips--makes it look even more wave-y!
